In the period of 2005 – 2007 the vessels were re-equipped by Kherson Shipyard according to the design made by Marine Engineering Bureau (Odessa, Ukraine) for general and bulk cargoes carriages, including carriages of grain, timber, crates of the international standard in cargo holds and on hatch covers.
The main re-equipment stages were:
* Installation of the sides watertight outer plating between the main deck and forecastle deck (30 - 134 frame area);
* Extension of the bow and the stern edges;
* Installation of additional intermediate frames (114 frame – bow area) for the purpose of obtaining the L4 ice class;
* Installation of additional stripes on the walls of the coamings and on the plating of the double side; uprights inside of the double bottom, reinforcement ribs under the forecastle deck as hull reinforcements for the purpose of obtaining R2-RSN navigation area;
* Removal of refrigerating plants;
* Installation of radio navigation equipment to comply with the A1+A2 GMDSS marine area requirements.
As a result of re-equipment: the draught of each vessel was increased from 3.5 up to 4.1 meters, the deadweight – from 1600 up to 2800 tons. At present, the vessels fly with the RMRS KM* L4 R2-RSN class.
